Figs

Figs

My fig tree is bearing much fruit this year.  I have to pick them before birds or squirrels get to them.

Ever noticed how cactus grows new pads?

Many seem to pop out near decayed parts of the plant.

Dandelion Close-up

I never really had a good look at dandelions until I got my camera.

Wasp

I never would have thought this wasp would have been unfazed by my presence. It let me shoot away as it was focused on it’s hive.DSC_7320

At times it seemed very focused on me and my camera.

It was more preoccupied with making a safe place for the eggs.

Snails

At the macro level, I learned that even snails can move too fast. I had to keep my hand on the manual focus at all times.

The next 2 photos show a tiny insect by the small antennae holding on to dear life.

Snail Duet

I had put 4 snails on a medium size branch and these two found each other within 10 minutes.

Is it me, or do some tree pods have an otherworldly look about them?

A bee picture

DSC_3785

I waited a minute or two for this photo which lasted 1/400th of a second.  I have learned not to chase and follow bees from flower to flower.  Instead I stuck by one flower and waited for a bee to stop by.   Bee photography 101 I bet.

Insects on a prickly pear cactus

These insects made their home on a large prickly pear cactus this summer.  When the flowers dried and fell,  they moved elsewhere. I’m not sure if that was a coincidence.

These moved as a unit. When I put my hand near them, they evenly spread apart.

What will the cactus attract next summer?
